About

It’s Foodtastic is the brain child of Lucinda “Cindy” Watrous of Lucinda Uncensored, and her husband, who we’ll just call J. He’s an aspiring culinary student, who will be entering school in the Fall of 2011. His dream is to make it on Food Network. We want to open a restaurant, write a cookbook (my writing, his food), and probably more than anything go up against Bobby Flay either in a Throwdown, or in the Iron Chef kitchen. I’ll ride on his coat tails and meet Alton Brown, Paula Deen, and Guy Fieri. :) *Sidenote: Since the debut of this blog in July/August 2010, we have seen Paula Deen and Guy Fieri in “concert.” We’ve even spoken briefly to Guy. :D

Here you’ll find all kinds of tidbits about food: healthy eating, recipes, our thoughts on various cooking shows, and anything foodie we think is cool.

Some Things You Ought to Know

I used to be a consultant for the Pampered Chef, so you may hear talk of those products. I am no longer compensated by them, but I have a kitchen full, and I love to use them. I feel it’s important to say that in the interest of full disclosure. I’m also a member of the Cooking Club, where I get free cookbooks and products to test and keep, so watch out for that, too.

My family and I love food and everything about it. We are trying to move to a healthier diet in the midst of all the culinary exploration.

Some Extra Stuff

  • J was the first person I ever met that hates ketchup as much I do. Sometimes, I think that was the moment that I knew he was “the one.” Okay, I’m kidding, but it’s still cool.
  • I’m incredibly picky, but J makes things that I never used to eat and will not eat unless he makes. He’s really cool and substitutes mayo for sour cream where he can because I hate the stuff.
  • I never enjoyed spicy food until we were together. Even our son can eat a raw jalepeno and beg for more. It’s pretty awesome.
  • I totally think it’s cool that Aarti (the latest Food Network Star) was a food blogger. That’s not the motivation for the blog, though.
  • We alternate between network television, Food Network, Cooking Channel, and cartoons. :)
